Valdo Mendes is a conceptual realism artist that elaborates artworks surrounding real events with a twisted perspective. He has studied graphic design and conceptual art which allowed him to be exposed to several medias and forms of communication, which in return empowers the narrative of storyline and dystopian features in his work. 

 

Through painting, the themes often emerge by real life events that propel inspiration to create narratives, that may or may not be in sync with renaissance motifs and greek or biblical references. Mendes tends to create either chapters or sequences that furthermore elaborate a context. The main objective is to create a conversation amongst the audience that they may or not be comfortable with or feel inquisitive. In order to create these "chapters" research is prepared in order to attain a theme that connects our modern contemporary world with the old one. Fabricating then, a connection between timelines.
