MICHAEL BRADSHAW

Bradshaw’s work has been widely exhibited at various venues, including: The Royal Academy, London, as part of the Summer Exhibition 2021; Selfridges, Oxford Street, London; the St Albans Gallery + Museum as part of the Hertfordshire 2020 Open and UH Arts Gallery, Hatfield. Bradshaw has developed his artistic practice over recent years in combination with family commitments and following a career in law.

Bradshaw’s artistic concerns focus on systems of meaning and value, as well as intersections between materiality, colour, objecthood and culture. His current work does this through exploring a collection of found objects, mostly defunct components from domestic goods. Bradshaw uses drawings and various sculptural iterations to consider these forms and our ways of understanding them, as well as our relationships with objects more widely. Through this, new semi-fictionalised objects emerge, altered in form, materiality, scale and place, yet retaining something of their original functionality and familiarity. These new objects strive to exist collectively and individually in new ways, just beyond our attempts to classify and understand them.
