OLIVIA PRITCHARD
Olivia Pritchard is a Hertfordshire based artist. Her practice is multidisciplinary, incorporating murals, sculpture, and painting using naturally sourced pigments ground from earth. Pritchard completed her degree in Fine Art at the University of Hertfordshire.
Her most recent work Serpent (2022) is a grand scale floor mural depicting her exploration of the intertwining of the human body and natural formations. The curves and depths of caves and rocks in contrast to the fleshy, corporeal image of organs and bones. The belly of the Earth’s structures, systems and fragility.
Pritchard’s sculptures are heavily saturated, densely pigmented yet light and fragile. There is a sedimentary aspect to these that is reminiscent of weighted stones, rocks or growths. Hybrid creatures covered in a velveteen alien moss. She considers her paintings to depict the wildness and the unpredictable beauty of nature. They twist and dissipate, fading and evaporating, always on the edge of disappearance.
